1. Our Privacy Commitment
KlarVPN exists to give you privacy you can verify, not just read about. This policy describes the data we handle, why we handle it, and how you can check it yourself.
Our promise: We collect as little information as possible to keep the service running. We do not log your browsing activity. We do not sell your data. And we show you exactly what we hold in your live transparency dashboard.
2. What Data We Process
2.1 Account Information (Required)
- Email address: mandatory for creating your KlarVPN account. We use it to authenticate your login, manage your subscription, send important service updates, and provide support.
- Payment tokens: if you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment partner sends us a token confirming your subscription status. We never see or store your full credit card number, expiry date, or CVV.
2.2 Usage
- We count the total bytes you transfer while connected. This is the single metric required to enforce data caps: Free 3 GB, Gold 250 GB, Platinum unlimited.
- The figure is displayed in your Transparency Dashboard. That is the data we have. Nothing more.
2.3 Connection Metadata (Temporary)
- While you are connected, our servers briefly hold your account identifier and a connection timestamp. This is deleted as soon as you disconnect. We do not store this data long-term or log the IP addresses you visit.
2.4 Diagnostic Data (Optional)
- You may choose to share anonymous crash reports and performance metrics. These contain no IP addresses, browsing history, or traffic logs. You can turn this off at any time in the app settings.
2.5 What We Never Collect
- Your original IP address after connection
- Browsing history or DNS queries
- The IP addresses or domains of websites you visit
- The contents of your VPN tunnel traffic
- Location data beyond the server region you select
3. How We Use the Data
We do not use your information for profiling, ad targeting, or automated decision-making.
| Data Point | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Email address | Account login, password recovery, billing receipts, support, and essential service communications |
| Usage counter | Apply data limits and display your usage |
| Payment token | Activate and maintain your paid subscription |
| Anonymous diagnostics | Improve app stability, opt-in only |
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share only with payment processors to complete transactions, and upstream hosting providers that run the physical servers where your dedicated tunnels terminate.
We will only disclose information to law enforcement when we receive a valid, legally binding court order or warrant. Because we keep no browsing logs, the information we can provide is extremely limited.
5. Acceptable Use
To protect all users and comply with upstream infrastructure partners, KlarVPN may not be used for illegal activity, fraudulent conduct, intellectual property violations, malware distribution, security violations, network abuse, spam, unsolicited communications, or cryptocurrency mining without explicit written consent.
Violations may result in immediate service suspension or termination. We cooperate with upstream providers when they flag prohibited activity originating from KlarVPN infrastructure.
6. Data Retention
When your tunnel session is refreshed, your current tunnel is destroyed, and a new one is provisioned. Session refresh does not erase your monthly usage tally.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing support@klarvpn.com.
| Data Type | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Email address | Until account deletion plus 90 days for final communications |
| Usage counter (monthly tally) | 30 days after the monthly cycle ends |
| Payment token | Duration of subscription plus any period required for tax or compliance records |
| Temporary connection metadata | Deleted upon disconnection |
| Anonymous diagnostic logs | Up to 1 year if opted in |
7. Security
We protect your data with strong encryption in transit and at rest. Access to internal systems is strictly limited to essential personnel. Because we do not log browsing history, a breach would expose only your email address and usage counter, nothing more.
8. Children's Privacy
KlarVPN is not intended for users under the age of 16. If we learn that a child under 16 has provided their email address and created an account, we will delete the account and associated data immediately.
9. Legal Basis (EEA / UK)
You have the right to access, correct, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to data portability. Contact support@klarvpn.com to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
- Performance of a contract: mandatory email and usage counting are necessary to provide the service.
- Legitimate interest: using your email for essential account communications and service updates.
- Consent: optional diagnostic collection, which you may withdraw at any time.
10. International Data Transfers
Your VPN tunnel operates on servers in various global regions. When you connect to a server outside your home country, temporary connection metadata may be processed in that location. We maintain safeguards to protect your data regardless of where it is processed.
11. Changes to This Policy
Significant changes will be communicated via the email address linked to your account or through a prominent notice in the KlarVPN app. Minor clarifications may be posted without direct notice, but will always be reflected here with an updated effective date.
